I had a pussycat called Patsy

We kept each other company for 15 years. I loved her very much. She was put to sleep yesterday.

I am told I am suffering now so that she could be spared more suffering. If that is so, I will bear it, but it hurts terribly.

  9. I very much like the words you were given. I've been there too, with my beloved Moon (who reached age 17½). I wish you happy dreams of Patsy, and peaceful memories. She was gorgeous.

  10. My dad was a GP. He used to tell me how he felt worse when their cat died than when any of his patients died. I thought that was awful. Then many years later our cat died. :-(
    So sorry.

  19. I just wanted to offer my condolences and sympathy on the loss of your beloved Patsy. I can only imagine your heartbreak and the void left by her passing. She was truly fortunate to have as loving and caring a mommy as you. Given the circumstances, you made the best decision. Anything else would have only prolonged the agony and pain she was in. Thank you also for sharing with us such a lovely picture of her. What luminous eyes! She was a beauty, indeed. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}

  20. Thank you all so much for your kind and comforting words. They are greatly appreciated.

    I am sorry for anyone who's had to go through this kind of pain. I know it will get easier in time... It has to.

    Patsy had such a sweet face. I fell in love with her, the day after I got her (as a tiny 2-month-old kitten), when she climbed on top of my computer and looked down at me: she was like a little gremlin, with a triangular face and absolutely enormous ears. I had wanted a proper tabby but had somehow acquired this badly mixed white cat with random patches of tabby and a pink nose (I didn't know I loved pink noses yet) and I was feeling a little disappointed, but she'd spent the night in a hole under the bookshelves at the bottom of my bed and uttered this pathetic, "Miaow, where am I?" when she'd woken up and then had discovered a mountain to climb... That was it.

  24. another hug for you, Bela.
    You took beautiful care of her always, right up to the end. What a sweet, knowing look she has in this picture. I grieve for you.

  25. Thank you, F. I like that pic: she looks perky, interested, curious. That's how I want to remember her.

  26. Dear J, I've just read this so am late in responding. I'm so very sorry about your Patsy. I remember your writing of her often over the past few years, so I have a sense of how much she meant to you. Our cat is dear to us, too, so from that point of view, I also understand some of the loss and sadness you are feeling. There's nothing I can do except send you love and I do.

  27. Thank you so much, L. The pain is a little less acute, but I still can't believe I'll never hear her purr again.
